I work with people anywhere from teenagers to seniors who want to DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO LONG TERM both PAIN-FREEAND POWERFULLY! Any number of reasons may apply...
- Knee injuries
- Hip pain
- Bunions, plantar fasciitis, and other "foot" problems
- Back pain
- Mobility limitations
- Pro-active post-surgery movement recoding after or with physical therapy ends to address root movement stressors
- Optimizing sports or dance performance and troubleshooting technique
- Postural stress
- wanting to HAVE MORE FUN and go back to doing whatever you LOVE TO DO!!!
- wanting to stop spending lots of time and money on patch-up solutions like massage, chiropractic, and other temporary fixes that don't address underlying movement disorders
I work best with people who are curious and a bit nerdy...not afraid to think critically about their habits, habits of our culture, and how things got the way they are. Would spending 5 minutes studying what bones that are near and old injury be a waste of time? If so, this is not for you.
People who already love to move and are willing to practice and apply the techniques they learn benefit the most. Show me that move in Aikido class that hurts! Send me a video clip of you doing African Dance! Pay attention to how you pick up groceries! I'll show you where your energy leakages are so we can shift your habits!
Someone who just wants to "move and sweat" would probably be better off in a group class at a gym, yoga, or dance studio. People who work with me want to change how we move so that we gain capabilities as we age.....which doesn't look the same as a cardio class.
We are tuning and testing when working together. We move with quality, intention, and groundedness. We do resets that change our deepest movement programming because we are calm while doing it.
Breath is the most important thing to train since we do it 22,000 times a day. If that's too boring, you aren't interested in regenerative movement and I don't want to work with you.
People in pain can benefit a huge amount from this work as long as they are willing to back off and re-route around pain. But only people who have a sincere desire to learn from their pain are going to thrive here.
Flakiness and excuses don't work here. I am compassionate and empathetic to emergencies. but will not let myself or the group suffer from an individual's inability to plan or communicate and negotiate solutions.
